About

     So a little about myself.  I am the Production Team Leader at Manchester Christian Church.  Currently I live in Derry, NH with my college roommate who will be getting married in January…  Anyway, I am the son of Phil and Marian Yakey who currently reside in Lawrenceville, IL.  My dad is the Preaching Minister at Central Christian Church in L’ville, and my mom works at the county health clinic.  I have one brother with whom I am pretty close.  Brian and his wife Rachel live in King, NC.  Brian is the Worship Director at Poplar Springs Christian Church and Rachel is a 7th grade teacher.  They are the proud parents of my favorite niece Madelyn Elisabeth Yakey!  

    My interests include hiking, keeping up on the latest tech stuff, going out to eat, and facebooking.  I have quite a few more, but that is what usually takes up the most of my time.  Favorite colors and stuff like that usually change with the season or season of my life. I am quite partial to blue however.  I do however have a favorite shape.  The rhombus has become one of my favorite shapes.  This is mostly due to its occupation of the shapes categories and it really is a new idea of an old shape.  Recently I was talking to a friend who was able to give me an amazing reason why the triangle is her favorite shape.  I just like the rhombus because it has a funny name… 

     I kind of collect movies.  Movies have been to me what a great book is to many people.  I enjoy watching them several times just to see all the nuances that they bring each time I watch them.  Watching a movie I haven’t seen in a while is like sitting down and talking with an old friend.  I remember the people I watched the movie with first and it brings up memories of that person.  Even though I video edit, movie making has never been a end goal for me.  My video editing is usually leaves me with a 1-5 minute video.  Much longer than that and I become uninterested in the project I am working on.  

     I have lived in four different states.  Illinois was where I spend most of my life.  I was born in Springfield, IL and my family and I lived in Auburn, IL until I was in 2nd grade.  We then lived in Michigan as a family for three years while my dad was the manager of Rock Lake Christian Assembly.  After that time we moved back to Illinois where I spend 5th-12th grades. 

     Lincoln Christian College shaped my future for three years and then I moved on to University of Illinois at Springfield for two more years to finish up my two Bachelors (Bible & Communications).  During my time at UIS I worked at South Side Christian Church as an intern and then as part time tech person.  From there I went to my internship at Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute, IN.  Here I lived in Indiana for three months… I guess you can consider that another state.  From there I moved home (lawrenceville,IL) while waiting on direction from God as to where I should go next.  

     After about three months I was able to move out to Manchester, NH with Restoration House Ministries in a resident ministry position between Manchester Christian Church and Reunion Christian Church.  I was working part time at both churches with Tech Support in the A/V field.  After about 6 months of this Manchester hired me on and it has been great ever since.  
     Now, well I am just enjoying life and trying to spread the joy of God through my work and my life.
